The picture should update every 30sec. (webcam.jpg) This assumes two events are occurring.
1. The file transfer from the camera software is taking place.
2. Your browser allows Javascripts to execute. The 'Last Six' page uses a Metatag Refresh that does
not require Javascript to reload the pictures. That's the difference, it reloads the whole page not just the
pictures.
These pages use pictures generated by different software. The comments are my own observations, you my
have a different experience.
Using 'Webcam' version 3.5 by CoffeeCup, the security feature that allows downloading
a picture when there has been movement or a change in the field does not work very well on my system. The sensitivity control
does not exersize sufficient control. There is insufficient dynamic range and
I don't tend to have 'Webcam' running.
The other pages have pictures created by a program named 'ConquerCam'. This program is good and I
would recommend it.(but see note below) Areas of interest can be masked and the sensitivity maybe set as a maxmimum and minimum
value. So for example a cloud causing the scene to darken would not trigger the system if a maximum value of
say 70% had been set. Similarly a cat walking into the field of interest could be disregarded by setting
a minimum value of 5%. These settings depend on the size of mask being used.
Although I would recommend 'ConquerCam' there appears to be a problem if the
program were run for an extended period. I have not proved this, there maybe a hardware fault with my
system.
After running this application on other systems with different cameras the conclusion is that there is a memory leakage problem.
or possibly a resource black hole. This maybe viewed using the system monitoring diagnostic the problem showing as
'Handles' counting upwards eventually this causes a system failure. Or 'Free memory' decreasing regularly
So many possible reasons, try the program for yourself it's a free trial download and
on my system will run for 48hours or so before crashing. It does have the best method of determining
scene changes of the programs I have tried but the reliability is an issue for me.
If your system runs Windows-XP then possibly a more functional program is 'Active-Webcam' the motion
sensitivity adjustment seems to work and there are other facilities included with this application. Testing
is continuing, so far the program has proved to function correctly and will handle multiple cameras I would recommend
it as it is proving to be reliable. download
Testing to be continued...

This picture will update only after a transition. Again this only occurs if the facility is active. If they don't update then try one of these links.
